PR strategy and my process begin with you

My Process

I develop integrated communications strategies that connect content, email, websites, media relations, social media and targeted promotion to measurable business goals.

By integrating your communications, your plan will benefit from synergies from all of the types of media. We always start with the content that belongs to you first. It includes your website, blog, newsletter, book, online community, collateral, lead magnet, signage, and more.

If you have a social media presence, these active channels refer back to your content and are another way to draw attention. They can include Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and others you may not have thought of like Substack. If you’re a service business, you most certainly will have a Google Business Profile, Yelp, and Apple Business profile. A nonprofit might also make sure they are listed on directory sites, like Charity Navigator, Candid (formerly Guidestar), or the Better Business Bureau.

Any sort of advertisement, promotion, sponsorship, or sponsored content is another lever to pull to tap into more visibility. You choose the message and pick the audience. When it works best, these draw visitors back to your website via a landing page. These types of ads require a budget.

What many people think of as media relations adds social proof to the process. Interviews on podcasts, radio, broadcast news, blogs, and even quotes submitted to digital outlets can build more awareness for what you do and why. It’s even more important than ever to build credibility outside your own resources for search engine optimization and mentions from Large Language Model (AI) answers.

Here’s my process I use to calmly outline a personalized path forward when you feel overwhelmed by all the choices and channels you have to get the word out.

Step 1 – Listen

Tell me what is on the horizon and what is going on now. Do you have a dream, personal or professional goals? What’s holding you or your organization back and what is driving you forward?  Answers to these questions will help us focus in on what’s really important so we can pick strategies that match up with your goals.

Step 2 – Strategize

It’s not easy to drive the car while you change the tires. This is why creating space to strategize together is so important. After our conversation, I will create a personalized plan that is measurable and tied to business and organizational outcomes.

Step 3 – Perform

Once you have a plan, you can use it to move forward yourself or with your staff. Alternately, I can help you implement your plan to put it in motion and connect you with local specialists, like photographers, graphic designers, or social media specialists, to make your life easier.

Step 4 – Measure

Once communications activities begin, we set time to measure how things are going. This helps us make adjustments along the way as they are needed.  Does a certain type of content bring your website a lot of traffic? Let’s do more! How many leads are joining your email list? And, are you getting referral traffic to your website from your social channels or reviews?  These may be some of the questions we ask in order to determine how your communications strategy is performing.

Step 5 – Repeat

I can help you streamline your communications program by creating a sustainable process, so you can keep it up and running and delivering results you need.
